Father Tam Church, also known as the Francis Xavier Church, in Cholon is decorated with horizontal lacquered boards and scriptures carved into altar pillars, similar to Chinese temples. On 3rd December 1900, at the Feast of St. Francis Xavier, Bishop Mossard of Saigon placed the first stone for the church to be built for the Chinese in Saigon. The church was completed in January 1902. Upon his death in 1934, Father Tam was buried at the entrance of the church. Therefore, the church is often called Cha Tam (Father Tam) Church.
